Brown Family Homestead is one of the best wedding venues tucked into the mountains of Leavenworth, WA. When Holly and Dave decided to host their wedding in one of their favorite places in Washington State, I was over the moon to be asked to document it. Holly and I went to the same art’s college, she was in the graphic design program and I, in the photography program. Fun fact, Holly actually designed my VERY FIRST business logo and even one of my earliest iterations of this website. She is wickedly talented and is co-founder of a badass design company Wildern (check them out!).
Low key and natural were the vibes set out by Holly and Dave and I was happy to run with them. Getting to be a fly on the wall and take in all that they had put together was a photographer’s dream. Brown Family Homestead has these gorgeous old, rustic structures for the getting ready spaces that offer so much character and texture. Holly got ready in the main house that is filled with vintage wall paper, a full upright piano and so many little trinkets. I loved moving around the space and finding different pockets of light to document details and the stages of getting ready. Dave was set up in the little groom’s shed next door. Very classic with velvet furniture and a mural wall of past groom’s dried boutonnieres, this space was equally as gorgeous as the main home.
Without a first look, we headed into ceremony that sits on the top side of property overlooking the entire homestead with the mountains in the background. It’s a wee bit of a hike but totally worth it for the views. Holly & Dave’s ceremony was emotional, authentic and so heart warming. There is a different energy about people like Holly and Dave. It’s a love that runs deeper than most and is my favorite to document.
After vows & rings we were off to the party! With their favorite band to carry them into a night of dancing and celebration, Holly and Dave soaked up all the goodness around them. Dave even made an appearance on stage with his saxophone to serenade the audience. It was SO STINKIN’ COOL!
Holly and Dave, thank you for trusting me to capture this day. I wish you all the best in this world.
