Sarah and Adam’s wedding day saw many iterations before it became a Discovery Park Elopement. Originally set to be their large celebration in Port Orchard, Sarah & Adam altered their plans to be as safe as possible given the circumstances of the world. What they didn’t expect was for Mother Nature to gift them torrential downpours.
With quick thinking and a few friends in the city, we were able to track down some clear skies in Seattle (ironically!). We ditched the idea of heading into the mountains and swung over to Discovery Park in Seattle. Discovery Park is great for its vast size, varying landscapes, and amazing views over Puget Sound. Discovery Park has a cute little white chapel that was used during the days of it being a Navy Base. The homes are now occupied with citizens and not Navy officers and the base is now the park grounds.
We posted up camp in the little open field next to the chapel and the private ceremony began. A few park walkers momentarily stopped to observe, but nothing out of the ordinary. Sarah and Adam exchanged vows, paying homage to their families and religious upbringings. With a quick *crack* of the glass and a cheer of “Mazal Tov!”, they were married.
We did some fun family portraits, toured the park for B&G portraits, and ultimately went back to the Airbnb for a champagne pop. I’m so grateful to Sarah and Adam for trusting me to photograph this chapter of their love story and also…for trusting me to deviate from our original plans and head to Seattle. Their Discovery Park Elopement was perfect. Enjoy!
