As a wedding photographer, I find the highest honor in being asked to photograph my friend’s weddings. Some people prefer to be invited as a guest, but I find that as a photographer I get to experience more of the wedding day. Being asked means that my friend not only wants me to attend, but trusts me enough to capture each and every moment.
Elizabeth and I met each other on high school dance team. She was an officer and I, a wee freshman. Elizabeth was full of joy, energy and quick wit. It was easy to look up to her and know what kind of leader I wanted to be. After she and I both graduated years apart, we kept in touch via social media (as we all do now) and I got to watch her travel the world as a performer and she got to watch my photography grow. Needless to say, during one of her tours she met a man…a very charming, handsome, South African man that would steal her heart and one day marry her.
I was beyond (BEYOND, guys) honored when Elizabeth asked if I was available for their wedding. Getting a fiancé visa was a little tricky for landing a date, but I kept a few on hold for her until she arrived back here in Seattle. The day finally arrived and it was a typical Seattle August surprise rainy day. Seriously, how does it rain on August 26th?! Liz and Wouter kept good spirit and it was one of the most beautifully intimate and joyous weddings I have ever attended. Familiar faces, delicious goodies and everyone gathered to witness a special union, it was magical.
Take a peek into their gorgeous (and wet!) wedding day, especially that final shot!
