We’ve got some familiar faces today for our Mountain Top Lookout couple’s session! It’s Emily & Austin! You’ll recognize these two from their Ruby Beach engagement session nearly 3 years ago! WOW, time does fly!
This session is especially special to me because this was in the midst of summer quarantine. Emily & Austin are our neighbors just down the street (literally, a 2 min drive or 8 min walk) and we were all feeling exceptionally cooped up from staying home to stay safe. I had recently wanted to venture outside, where you can thankfully stay super socially distanced. I asked if they’d be down for an adventure since it had been so long since we had shot together. Being in July, it was the perfect little anniversary session for their 1 year wedding anniversary.
THE SHOOT
We made the quick-ish drive from Black Diamond to Mount Rainier National Park to begin our hike. I will fully admit to being very out of shape at this time and this hike was HARD. With a ton of switchbacks, this hike feels like it’s never going to end. Thankfully we took a small break and shot in these lower fields before heading up to the lookout. No wildflowers were harmed in the making of these photographs. Please always be mindful of where you walk in National Forests. There are great tiny trails in the fields that are easy to shoot on and look like you’re just in the fields.
At the top of the lookout, the view will blow you away by the 360-degree views. I always knew our state was insanely beautiful, but it was such a treat to see her in all her glory after being inside for so long. I hope you enjoy these sun-drenched images from the mountain top lookout with Emily & Austin. These are probably some of my favorite photographs I’ve ever taken of them, enjoy!
