Why An Engagement Session is a Must-Have

Engagement photos. What’s all the hype about? Why do you need them in your life and why are they so important? If you’re not convinced, keep on reading for some of the reasons why having an engagement session with your photographer prior to your wedding day is a must-have.

 

01. GET COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER.

Being in front of the camera can be nerve-racking enough- let alone the fact that a near stranger is taking your photos. Having an engagement session prior to your wedding day allows for you to connect and create a further bond with your photographer and get comfortable around them. And, if you’ve never had your pictures taken before, it also allows for you to get used to the process of it all.

Not to mention it creates an opportunity for your photographer get to know you both even more and understand you and your partners dynamic and love so that your love story translates effortlessly into the photos.

02. CAPTURE THE SPECIAL TIME OF YOUR LIVES.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime season of your lives that deserves to be celebrated and captured and in the hustle and bustle of planning your wedding day, it’ll fly right on by. Allow yourself to soak it all in and have photos to hold on to remember this season for when you are both old and grey.

If you are wanting to start a family in the near future this may also be a fleeting season for you two- being just you two.

03. MAKE A DATE NIGHT OUT OF IT.

Engagement sessions are FUN. It is an evening full of doing silly and fun poses with your partner with lots of kisses in between. Plus it gives you an excuse to both get alllll dressed up and snazzy. There are memories to be made at engagement sessions, it is an evening you might remember forever!

Take it a step further and utilize you both being all dressed up to its fullest potential. Go out to dinner afterward- make a whole night out of it!

04.USE ENGAGEMENT SESSION PHOTOS AT YOUR WEDDING.

Engagement photos are not only perfect for holding onto memories, hanging in your house, and posting to social media but they are also perfect for displaying at your wedding. It adds a nice touch and brings even more romance to your wedding allowing your guests to see some moments of joy that you two shared together.

05. GET COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA.

Being in front of the camera can feel, well… awkward. Posing and following prompts can feel uncomfortable and unnatural at first especially if you are an introvert. When we feel good, we look good. When you feel uncomfortable, it can sometimes show in the photos. Which is the last thing we want. So, having that engagement session can allow you plenty of time to get comfortable. Plus, you’ll feel like a pro in front of the camera before your big day.
